Every year in March, hordes of people from every corner of the world arrive in southern Spain to witness the magic of the Semana Santa processions and culture. Each day of the event there is numerous processions taking place. Each one is carried by a different Brotherhood, including two Big Floats (Paso), the body of Christ, and the Virgin Mary, from the church to the center of the town. The massive size of the floats requires 40 to 50 men (Nazarenos) to carry the floats on their shoulders. Others not carrying the floats are in shackles. The wardrobes in purple signify the pain that Christ endured during the Crucifixion.
