Revere Beach

Revere Beach is the oldest public beach in the United States. It has a fairly active beachfront district. From its inception, Revere Beach was “the people’s beach,” used mostly by the working class and the many immigrants who settled in the area.

The Beach was the focus of a major revitalization effort by the Metropolitan District Commission and the City in the 1980s and was officially reopened in May 1992. It now boasts high rise housing units, a resanded beach, restored pavilions, and a renovated boulevard. Revere commemorated the centennial of the first opening of Revere Beach on the weekend of July 19, 1996.

Features Public concerts at the bandstand, easy T access, and miles of shoreline. Lifeguards are on duty from late June to early September. Its a popular spot for people from metro Boston. Open year round, dawn to dusk.

Directions:
Take the Blue Line to Revere Beach or Wonderland Stations. Cross the street to the beach.

Wollaston Beach

Wollaston Beach is Quincy’s largest beach offering 2.5 miles of clean sand, swimming, and activities. There are Restroom, lifeguards, free parking, food, and the area is handicap accessible.

Directions:
Wollaston Beach – Red Line to Wollaston Station, walk to Hancock St., turn right and walk one block to Beach St.

Dorchester Shores

Dorchester Shores Reservation is open year-round, dawn to dusk. Malibu Beach, Victory Road Park and Tenean Beach provide the public with coastal access along the mouth of the Neponset River. Malibu Beach offers swimming and bathhouse.

Tenean Beach

Tenean Beach is a popular swimming beach with playground facilities, tennis and basketball courts. Nearby Savin Hill Beach (managed by the city of Boston), restored to its original Olmsted Brothers design, has a tot lot, baseball fields and protected swimming.

Savin Hill T stop on the Red Line. Savin Hill Avenue one quarter mile to Savin Hill and Malibu Beach Victory Park and Tenean Beach via #20 bus from Savin Hill T stop.

Carson Beach

Carson Beach is located in South Boston, MA. Carson Beach offers some beautiful views and great public amenities: a rehabilitated Mothers’ Rest, public restrooms, exhibit space, first aid and lifeguard functions, while the outdoor courtyards allow space for passive recreation. Carson Beach also features a walkway which allows one to walk, bike, or run along the water’s edge from Castle Island to the Kennedy Library.

Walden Pond

Walden Pond is a National Historic Landmark encompasses 400 acres, including a glacial kettle-hole pond. The area is popular for fishing, swimming, and walking. The number of visitors is limited to 1,000 people at a time. Visitors are encouraged to call the park in advance and check on parking availability. Call 978-369-3254.
