Situated 10 mins from Mijas pueblo and 25 mins from Malaga Airport is the bustling town of Fuengirola, a very popular destinations on the Costa del Sol. Fuengirola beach is the main reason for many visitors to the town, 8 kilometers of incredible sandy beaches and is situated in front of the promenade. You can walk the entire length of the promenade, all the way from the old Sohail Castle along the beach to the Torreblanca at the far end of Fuengirola. The beaches have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award by the European Union, for beach and sea cleanliness and safety.

There are plenty of options to get to Fuengirola, as the town is a very popular tourist destination. The area is connected by bus and train to Malaga, Mijas and Marbella. There are many airport transfer companies that can take you or taxis. All Fuengirola taxis are regulated and have price lists to confirm the price of the expected journey.
Malaga Airport to Fuengirola
Fuengirola is one of the main destinations for many tourists that visit the Costa del Sol every year. The majority of visitors arrive via Malaga airport before heading to the coast. There are several travel options available when travelling from Malaga airport and Fuengirola:
Train: There is a direct train link from Malaga airport to Fuengirola. This travel method is one of the most popular ways of getting to the town. The train service is fast, clean and efficient. The train can be caught in front of the airport and Fuengirola is the last stop for the train, there are taxis outside the train station that can take you further.
Bus: Currently there is no bus service between Fuengirola and Malaga airport. A bus service from the airport can take you to Marbella.
Taxi: There are no shortage of taxis waiting outside Malaga airport to take to your destination. Taxis are a little expensive, the rates should be around 35€ but please confirm this with the driver before leaving. All taxis have a price list that can be shown on request.
Car rental: Many people who visit Fuengirola decide to rent a car, which can sometimes be a cheaper option that the combined costs of trains, buses and taxi during your stay . There is no shortage of car rental companies looking for your business.
Transfers: In recent years, there has been an increase of companies offering transfer services. Collection at the airport and drop-off at your destination. This option is good for large groups and can be booked prior to your arrival.
