This time has come for the Mijas feria, the most important week for local residents, and a joy for anyone who has ever visited the town during the festival to honor the ‘Virgen de la Peña’.
September 8 is the big day with the feast of the Virgen de la Peña. This day the image of the patron sails in procession through the streets of the town before the watchful eye of the faithful and curious. The feria program includes music performances, parades, games, and competitions for all age groups, giving everyone the opportunity to join in and have a fun time. The Mijas Fair is characterized by a very unique and busy “Day Fair” and a “Night Fair” with attractions for the whole family. There are activities such as the homage dinner for the elderly, the children’s party, the games contest like the “Loco Rally”, the bike ride through the town, or the traditional Paella Gigante.
The town of Mijas will be transformed into a colorful celebration of local culture, with many local residents decorating their houses in festive character. Special tents (“casitas”) will be open serving food and drinks throughout the feria.
Free parking will be available just outside the village, as will be indicated if driving to the feria. The center of the village is just a short 10 min walk from the car park. The village car park will also be available but will fill up fast. Buses will also be running from Fuengirola.
