This years Festival Internacional de Los Pueblos will take place from June 8th – 10th with a multitude of events taking place in the village of Mijas. This International festival is a celebration of the multiculturalism in Mijas.
Representing five continents, residents will be music, performances, food and drink available from 20 different countries. Mijas village will be divided into three zones, red, blue and green. Each zone will offer live performances and traditional food from the represented countries. The red zone will be based in Plaza Virgen de la Peña, the central plaza. The blue zone will be 5 mins walk away in Plaza de la Constitucion and the green zone will be in the beautiful park beside the bullring.
The festival kicks off Friday evening (June 8th) at 9 pm in the red zone with music and dancing from Senegal with Boromtamba. The blue zone also kicks off at the same time with Irish music from Stolen Gnome. On Saturday, all three zones open at 2pm with a full line-up of workshops, street parades, choirs, zumba, international music and dancing.
A mini train will also take visitors of a tour around our beautiful village. Parking will be available outside the village and a free shuttle will bring people into the center of Mijas for the festivities and back to the parking area. The festival is an excellent opportunity to take part in one of the best festivals on the Costa del Sol and will give you a chance to try a wide variety of food such as German sausages, Uruguayan grill, Vietnamese Noodles, and Indian curries to wash down with Cuban Mijitos, Brazilian Caipirinhas or British beer. There will stall selling arts and crafts from some of the countries too. Come to Mijas and enjoy the Mijas Festival Internacional de Los Pueblos.
